BAM’s ’WHY

BAM’s “WHY” derives from our ability to make a difference and a sense of stewardship over the resources that make it possible to do so.

BAM has the will to pursue the resources and dedicate the time and effort to provide safe, dignified homes to families living in shacks.

BAM has the vision to see that once safe and warm, impoverished families have the talent, desire and wherewithal to break themselves out of the generational cycle of poverty and to become self-sufficient within one generation, often within THIS generation

BAM’s “WHY?” Having proven that it is possible to break the cycle of poverty through building community and building a bridge between supporters and that community, BAM is COMPELLED to do so! And to continue to seek new and better ways to facilitate self sufficiency and community.

BAM’s WHAT

VISION

To create a better life for families in poverty by providing safe, dignified homes for the parents who desperately need them and educational and vocational opportunity for them, children and adults alike, so the next generation be able to buy or build their own homes.

Continue to learn and conceive better ways to achieve the goals aligned with this vision. An important aspect of this derives from the fact that our leadership comes from the same living situations as those we serve. BAM is blessed with incredible insight and access to realistic solutions.

MESSAGE

To support Build A Miracle is to help a program through which thousands of lives have been changed on both sides of the border. People in Mexico have had their lives changed, not only because they have a safe and decent place to live, but because they have hope. People who don’t even know them have helped them to have a better life. People in the U.S. have had their lives changed because that’s just what happens when they experience the power of giving of yourself to another.

RESPONSIBILITY:

Build A Miracle’s founders, team members, volunteers, collaborators and supporters share a common trait that is further reinforced by means of their participation.

Operationally, we see our responsibility as:

  • EMPOWER THE PEOPLE IN MEXICO
  • GIVE PEOPLE FROM THE US THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE OTHERS USING THEIR TIME, TALENT AND TREASURE
  • LEGACY AND SUSTAINABILITY

Unguarded Moments:

RELATIONSHIPS:

One of our favorite quotes came from a young girl from house #16 – “I can’t believe you are building us this home and you don’t even KNOW us!”

So many friendships and bonds are formed as people from both sides of the border work together to build miracles. The bonds are life changing for all involved.

Successes to Date:

HOME BUILDING

  • 440 BAM homes built for needy families and counting 1999 – 2022
  • Villa Margarita Multifamily Project for families without land
  • “Dad’s Program” in which the men who live in BAM homes gather to build or improve shelters for the poorest of the poor
